So, what are you waiting for? There’s no better time than the present to start living your best life.
6) Vary your workouts: When it comes to fitness, there’s no one-size-fits-all exercise that everyone will love. Without variation, exercise can soon become boring, and before you know it, you’ll be reverting to old habits. The great thing about my fitness programs is that I vary my exercise protocols week-by-week, so you’re sure to discover several that you love. Feeling sick of squats? No problem! Just check out my many workout videos to find something that feels better for you. Bored of burpees? Don’t worry! I can help you find an exercise that you’ll look forward to every day.
7) Send yourself a reminder: One of the great advantages of living in the present time is our ability to use technology to help us reach our goals. With 81% of Americans today owning a smartphone, I can bet that you probably have an iPhone or Android sticking out of your pocket right now. These devices come with an array of built-in tools that can help you manage every aspect of your life. For instance, many people like to use their phone calendar or clock to remind them of special appointments or obligations. Workouts are no different! Simply set a clock alarm or calendar reminder into your phone at the time of day that you wish to work out, and voilà! You’ve got accountability right at your fingertips.
8) Lay your gear out the night before: People can find a million reasons not to exercise and, trust me, I’ve heard them all. You might be surprised to find that one of the most common reasons why people opt out of their fitness routine is that they can’t find the appropriate clothes to wear. I get it — sorting through your clothes to find an item that you hardly ever wear can be a bit of a pain, but is that really an excuse to forego exercise? To get around this problem, lay out your workout gear the night before. Remember — you don’t need to have the latest Fabletics or Athleta gear to get a good work out. An old t-shirt and some leggings work fine!
9) Improve your diet: I get it — this one can be much harder than it sounds, but I promise you that with the help of my nutrition plans you will soon find yourself in the habit of creating delicious, nutritious meals. You might be asking yourself how this relates to making exercise a habit. Well, I’ve noticed that when many of my clients begin to pay more attention to their diet, they begin to pay more attention to their physical health in general. Being nutrition-conscious puts you in the mindset that your body and how you treat it matter. By getting a grip on your food choices, you can get a grip on other areas of your life as well, including exercise. And remember — nutrition and fitness aren’t really about losing weight (although that might be a nice side effect). They’re about helping you stay strong, sane, and self-confident.
10) Exercise for something: It’s hard to convince yourself to do something if you don’t know why you’re doing it. That’s why I advise my clients to find some kind of motivation behind making exercise a daily habit. For example, many people like to think about their kids and wanting to live a long life for them as a way to get them through. Others may aim to run a 5K or just be able to take a jog without immediately giving up. It’s okay to have somewhat vain motivations too, such as wanting to look good for your partner or an upcoming wedding. Whatever gets you moving is okay by me!
